I just got back from our first OpenCoffee at Dakota with 30 other OpenCoffee attendees. The feedback on the venue has been fantastic. People really liked the large, open space and the city centre location. And the fact that it was only OpenCoffee-teers there made it very easy to find people and catch up with them.
Thanks to little black card for a great overview of their organization and for handing out cards to everyone.
The bar in the middle was a great space to prop up a laptop and show off what you’re working on, and we had a few nice demos from people like Echodio.
Thanks again to everyone for attending, and we’ll see you in May at Dakota.
The next OpenCoffee Club Dublin will be on SATURDAY, 18 April 2009 from 10:30am.
This will be our first meeting in our brand new location in Dakota Bar at 9 South William Street in Dublin city centre. I hope everyone will come along and check out the new venue. Dakota is not usually open this early and are doing this especially for us, so we’re quite excited and grateful for their help and support.
Please leave a comment below if you’re attending so that we have an idea of numbers, and if you are interested in demoing, please e-mail martharo@microsoft.com and let me know.
See you Saturday.
I am thrilled to announce two brand new locations for OpenCoffee Dublin.
THURSDAYS:
Thursday OpenCoffees are moving to the Science Gallery, which is in Trinity College on Pearse Street. It’s very convenient to Pearse Street Station. We will begin meeting there starting on Thursday, May 7th at 10:30am. If you join the Science Gallery (membership is free), you’ll get cafe discounts plus free wifi there as well as invites to members-only events.
SATURDAYS:
Saturday OpenCoffees are moving to Dakota, which is located at 9 South William Street in Dublin city centre. The first OpenCoffee at Dakota will happen next week on Saturday, April 18th starting at 10:30am. They usually don’t open that early but are opening early on Saturdays once a month just for us. Wifi will be available via bitbuzz.
Hope to see you at the new venues starting next week. Many many thanks to Jimmy Costello, the Science Gallery and Dakota for helping with the move.
Apologies for the lateness of this post - was travelling and missed this one.
The next OpenCoffee Club Dublin will be on THURSDAY, 2 April 2009 from 10:00am.
Digital Hub is again hosting OpenCoffee Dublin, although this will be the last event in the Digital Hub. Please come along or leave a comment to share your thoughts on new location.
Please leave a comment below if you’re attending so that we have an idea of numbers, and if you are interested in demoing, please e-mail martharo@microsoft.com and let me know.
See you Thursday.
The next OpenCoffee Club Dublin will be on SATURDAY, 21 March 2009 from 10:30am.
This will be our last meeting in the New York Grind in the IFSC, as NYG seems to have gotten a bit small for us. http://www.nyg.ie/. There was discussion last time about a new venue, so please come along with ideas for an alternate Saturday meeting place. We will be finalizing our decision for that location on Saturday and meet there in April.
Please leave a comment below if you’re attending so that we have an idea of numbers, and if you are interested in demoing, please e-mail martharo@microsoft.com and let me know.
See you Saturday.
During our last Saturday meetup, there was a lot of discussion about changing venue, as NYG is not very suitable for large group discussions and many people have issues finding seats and joining the conversations they want to join.
We’re looking for a fairly large venue that can easily hold 20-30 people, offers coffee/treats/breakfast goodies, and has decent wifi. A bonus would be the option to book off a separate room.
I’m happy to call around and ask venues but I need more suggestions. I tried the Science Gallery but they don’t open until noon on Saturdays.
Ideas? Please leave them in the comments below or e-mail them to me at martharo [at] microsoft.com.
Thanks.
Many of the folks that attend OpenCoffee meetups are web designers, developers and business decision makers. You may be interested to know that the Irish Internet Association (http://www.iia.ie/) Web Development Working Group have created a survey to find out more about what people would like to have the working group address.
If you have a couple of minutes, please click this link to fill out the survey and give them the valuable feedback they need.
From their blog:
- Among a number of issues that were discussed the Working Group decided that they needed to get a better idea of what you, the IIA members and readers, would like from them. To this end they have created a short survey on the topics you would like them to address in their work. They hope to receive responses from a broad range of businesses in many sectors so no matter what area your work focusses your response is important. It also includes some demographic questions which will give them a better idea of your business background and therefore they will be able to ensure that their outputs are developed accordingly.
This is just a quick note to say that there are plans in the works for a Virtual OpenCoffee this coming Saturday, March 7th. We will have details tomorrow regarding times & URL, so check back for all the details tomorrow and make sure to leave some time free Saturday.
The next OpenCoffee Club Dublin will be on THURSDAY, 5 March 2009 from 10:00am.
Digital Hub is again hosting OpenCoffee Dublin, although this may be the last event in the Digital Hub. Please come along or leave a comment to share your thoughts on new location. We are thinking of moving Thursday OpenCoffees closer to city centre, possibly Merrion Square. Let us know what you think.
Please leave a comment below if you’re attending so that we have an idea of numbers, and if you are interested in demoing, please e-mail martharo@microsoft.com and let me know.
See you Thursday.
