The next OpenCoffee Club Dublin will be on THURSDAY, 7 May 2009 from
10:30am.
This will be our first meeting in our brand new location in the Science Gallery in Trinity College Dublin on Pearse Street in The Naughton Institute. Please come along and check out the new venue. We’re very excited to be working with the Science Gallery and they have been incredibly supportive of OpenCoffee Club.
The Science Gallery provides free wifi, reduced ticket prices, and invites to member-only events for its members. Membership is free and as an OpenCoffee attendee, you should definitely sign up to be able to take advantage of their excellent benefits. You can sign up here.
Please leave a comment below if you’re attending so that we have an idea of numbers, and if you are interested in demoing, please e-mail martharo@microsoft.com and let me know.
See you Thursday.
The next OpenCoffee Club Dublin will be on SATURDAY, 21 March 2009 from 10:30am.
This will be our last meeting in the New York Grind in the IFSC, as NYG seems to have gotten a bit small for us. http://www.nyg.ie/. There was discussion last time about a new venue, so please come along with ideas for an alternate Saturday meeting place. We will be finalizing our decision for that location on Saturday and meet there in April.
Please leave a comment below if you’re attending so that we have an idea of numbers, and if you are interested in demoing, please e-mail martharo@microsoft.com and let me know.
See you Saturday.
Many many thanks to Joe Drumgoole & PutPlace for hosting us at the Digital Depot this week. PutPlace graciously offered to sponsor biscuits & pastries as well!
We will start around 10:30am on Thursday. Please ask at reception for OpenCoffee. The Digital Depot’s website is here: http://www.digitaldepot.ie/
And here is a map (Joe says turn on satellite view): http://url.ie/gyc
We have at least one short demo from PutPlace and possibly another…I will update after I confirm.
Please use the comments form below to let us know if you are coming so we can account for pastries & biscuits, etc.
Thanks and see you Thursday.
I am at the Filmbase Cafe right now and am unable to connect to their wifi. There are some plugs on one wall, and while the tea selection is great, I have to say that the construction work on the adjacent street (read: drilling cobblestone) makes this not an ideal OpenCoffee location for now.
So I am proposing we try The Digital Hub for this week. From the reports, they have good wifi, and I have seen their cool little meeting rooms and can vouch for the coffee.
Every time I’ve been there, I’ve had to sign in - does someone need to host us there? Volunteers please?
Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions and comments.
Looking for suggestions for a new venue for OpenCoffee - any ideas are welcome.
We’ve tried to do live broadcasting without much success due to wifi issues and loudness issues, as The Morrison, while they make great coffee, is quite a large and loud venue with off-and-on wifi and without many electrical outlets.
Suggestions anyone? I am planning on bringing a RoundTable camera for live conferencing next week, so would like a good venue for this to work better.
Thanks!

With the collaboration of many people around Ireland and even abroad, we did some live streaming of OpenCoffees last week from all around Ireland. Many thanks to everyone who participated and a special thanks to those who helped set it up!
The video can be found here: http://blip.tv/file/871043/ with credit to Chuck Boyce for the post-editing work.
Ángel took some great photos at the event, and those are online here: http://pix.ie/bohoe/album/321487
Thanks everyone, and see you next week.
The next OpenCoffee Club Dublin will be on 1 May 2008 in the front bar at The Morrison Hotel from 10am.
There are rumors that some live streaming action will occur for those that can’t make it in this time! I will update shortly with the details.
